Coverage rates for sealer
Concentrated coal-tar or asphalt emulsion sealer covers about <strong>80–100 sq ft per gallon per coat</strong> after dilution, and driveways want two coats (three on traffic lanes). The calculator computes gallons from your area and coat count — most 5-gallon pails concentrate and get cut 10–30% with water on site.
Two thin coats beat one flood
Squeegee the first coat thin and let it fully dry — overnight if cool. The second coat goes faster and looks better. Spray systems cover fastest for big driveways; for a two-car pad, a squeegee and one afternoon are enough. Keep vehicles off for 48 hours after the final coat.
