Boxes by coverage
Flooring boxes state their coverage — typically 18–25 sq ft for laminate and LVP. The calculator converts room area to boxes with the standard <strong>10% cutting waste</strong> (15% for diagonal installs). Enter your room's length and width, not the flooring's — the flooring size only matters on the box label.
Buy one lot, acclimate, then install
Like tile and brick, flooring varies between manufacturing lots — buy everything from one lot. Let the boxes rest in the room for 48 hours to acclimate to humidity; floating floors installed tight from a cold truck will gap in winter. Underlayment is usually calculated at the same square footage, one roll per area.
